Pocket Battles
Pocket Battles is a tile game for two players. It is easy to pick up and doesn't take long to play. Often used as a 'filler' before a major game. Some people say that the sides are not always well balanced Celts, Orcs & Macedonians seem to be the better bets. New in 2014 is the Confederacy v Union set. The club has yet to acquire it. |

Oregon
Another filler game the club owns which sees plenty of use is Oregon. This time it's a multi player (2-4), a useful thing when there's an odd number without something on. At about 45 minutes to play it works well for those who arrive early before the majority of games begin.
It's a "worker placement" game themed around the colonisation of the American West. Players place settlers onto the map which score points according to the developments (Rail stations, stagecoach offices, etc) they are next to.
There's more to it than that but the rules are very easy to pick up yet with enough strategy to hold your interest. Which is just what one wants in such a game.
